gOrk to Leave SBS - Moves Back to the ABA

Seattle Bike Supply has some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Craig "gOrk" Barrette - SBS' Marketing Director, has accepted a promotion. His new title will be CCO. The bad news - at least for SBS, is that it will not be with our company.

This coming July, "gOrk" will return to working for the American Bicycle Association (ABA) as their Chief Communications Officer. Prior to coming to work for Seattle Bike Supply (Redline) in 1999, gOrk had been with the ABA throughout the 90's, as their Editor/Photographer for the BMXer membership magazine.

"All of us at SBS will really miss Gork," expressed Chuck Hooper, President of SBS.

"He has been a great person to work with and has really helped SBS, Redline and our proprietary brands progress and grow over the past eleven years. We are all happy for Gork and wish him well in his new position. As a longtime sponsor of the ABA thru our Redline Cup series, we will continue to work closely with gOrk and the ABA."

In giving his notice, Gork reminisced with Hooper - both members of the National BMX Hall of Fame, how when he came to work for Redline, they had a National No.1 Pro in the U.S. (John Purse) and now nearly 12 years later, he leaves Redline still with a National No.1 Pro (Sam Willoughby). But one of the biggest differences is that now Redline has potential Olympic riders in 14 different countries and is the official Bike sponsor the Dutch and Norway National Teams. Redline becoming the leading brand in BMX racing, and finally earning the 2010 Golden Crank for "Bike of the Year" are two more great achievements that gOrk is proud to have been a part of.

"I am grateful for the knowledge and experience that SBS/Redline has given me," commented gOrk. "As much as I look forward to what's to come with the ABA and USA BMX, I will definitely miss working with the incredible family-like staff at Seattle Bike Supply. I never could have accomplished what I did at Redline without their teamwork."
